Terms of Service

1. What Recoup is

Recoup is a contract analysis and earnings projection tool for musicians. You upload a record contract, we read it and show you what the deal actually says. You add your songs, we pull streaming data and project your earnings.

Recoup is not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice, financial advice, or tax advice. The output is an automated analysis — always consult a qualified professional before signing a contract or making financial decisions based on these projections.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Recoup. By creating an account, you represent that you are 16 or older and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@recoup.cloud.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the contracts, songs, and data you upload. Recoup does not claim ownership of your content.

By uploading a contract, you grant Recoup a limited license to process and display that contract to you within the service. We do not use your uploads to train AI models or share them with third parties beyond the subprocessors listed in our privacy policy.

You represent that you have the right to upload any content you provide and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

5. Subscriptions & payments

Recoup offers Free and Pro tiers.

  • Free: limited to 5 songs, 20 Songstats calls/day.
  • Pro: up to 100 songs, 30 Songstats calls/day, priority support. Billed monthly or yearly via Stripe. Prices are displayed in your local currency where available.

Pro subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Plan. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect your current billing period.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Use Recoup for any unlawful purpose.
  • Upload contracts or content you do not have the right to share.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service.
  • Use automated means to create accounts or abuse the free tier.
  • Upload malware, illegal content, or personally identifying information of others without consent.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Recoup may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, or events beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from downtime.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Norwegian law:
  • Recoup is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, where such limitation is prohibited by law.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Data. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, with notice where reasonable. Upon termination, your data is deleted per our privacy policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email and/or an in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Oslo, Norway.
